Ever notice that a cat will chase the mouse pointer on the screen but they won’t chase your finger while you use a touch device?
It is possible to make exactly the same idea engaging or boring just by the way you present it. More importantly, you can motivate people to contribute, comment, and share by making their contribution a source of pride.
A landing page is any page that visitors (aka “traffic”) go to directly. For example, apple.com/trailers is not a home page, but I regularly go there without going through apple.com. I land there. Hence the name, “landing page”. Think of it like a guest entrance to your site.
This is an extremely common question, and tiny changes in copy can make huge differences in results. The more important a button is, the more you should consider the details. I have personally increased clicks on a buy button by 400% by changing from “Become a Member” to “Upgrade now!”

When it comes to persuasion, email is tricky. I recently stumbled across a blog post by David G. Cohen, a start-up investor, in which he describes the experience of getting a particularly persuasive email, among the 500 (!) emails that grace his inbox every day.
And neither does Microsoft, for that matter. They have some of the best tech people in the world, and they are wizards with data and the infrastructure it requires. But when it comes to humans they are amateurs. And their products prove it.
